STI Testing Appointment Preparation

STI Testing: There are a variety of ways to get testing done with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at 541-344-9411 to talk to us about how to get the testing you need.

Timing: Timing is an important factor when it comes to getting accurate results from STI screening. Gonorrhea and chlamydia take two weeks from an exposure to when a test would be accurate. Anything to do with blood testing (HIV, Hepatitis, Herpes, and Syphilis) takes 3 months from an exposure to when testing would be accurate.

With Symptoms:

• If you have sores which you think might be a herpes outbreak, we will need to see you within 3 days of the sore first appearing to take a culture. We currently cannot take cultures on Fridays.

• Female bodied: Symptoms of any kind require an exam for an accurate diagnosis. You may or may not be given a referral for blood work.
• Male bodied: Visible symptoms (like bumps, rashes, or sores) will require an exam while non-visible symptoms (like painful urination or discharge) can be diagnosed with a urine test.

• Female bodied: We can test you for chlamydia and gonorrhea without an exam. You will be tested from a self-swab in the vagina. HIV testing can be done by taking a small amount of blood from a finger prick. Other testing will require a referral for blood work.
• Male bodied: We can test you for gonorrhea and chlamydia without an exam. You will be asked for a urine sample when you arrive. HIV testing can be done by taking a small amount of blood from a finger prick. Other testing will require a referral for blood work.
